Equipped benching is a whole different animal than raw and technique and timing can be the difference between a successful attempt and failure.

 

 

When in a shirt we want to land the ✈ . When we get the weight and begin the descent we want to start to load the chest plate until that begins to lock up.

 

 

Once that plate is loaded then we can start tucking and bringing the bar in for the landing. Not straight down but on an angle towards your belly/touch point.

 

 

This cue is what helped me when I first started working in my Titan Super Katana, sometimes the answer to why you can’t touch a weight is a technique issue rather than not having enough weight on the bar.
