Board pressing can be a valuable exercise to work partial ranges of the bench press and to be able to effectively train in a shirt without trying to touch every session. It's also a great tool to overload the movement and have an athlete work with heavier weight.
Two of the most common mistakes here happen with both the lifter and the board holder. The board holder needs to hold the board tight to the lifter. It can be pretty frustrating when you trained to a 1 board but because your holder wasn’t holding it tight to your chest it ended up being a 3 board equivalent.
The board should be an extension of your chest. The same touch point, pressure and pause should apply to the board as your chest. This is a great way to solidify the same good habits carry over once you do the full competition style press.
