Let's start with, well, what exactly IS shoulder retraction? How do we perform it?
This is an action we can practice outside of benching. This is something we can do in our warm ups to further our ability to perform this motion.
This is the "pinch" portion of your bench set up. Pinching your shoulder blades together and shortening your arms.
It's important that you keep locked out arms!
Often times lifters soften their elbows and think they are creating this motion, but you are not doing yourselves any favors there.
